Made by parents, to make learning something kids love

PlayOwl makes learning something children enjoy. Made by parents, it's a calm, ad-free place to play real learning games, take interactive courses and make things of their own, with Olly the owl as their guide and grown-ups in charge of screen time.

Our mission

We want learning to be the part of the day children look forward to.

That's PlayOwl's main focus: games children genuinely enjoy that teach real skills along the way, and plenty of room to imagine, build and create. Every game has real levels tied to real skills, every course ends with a friendly quiz, and nobody is rushed or made to feel bad for a wrong answer.

  • Learning they'll ask for Games with real levels in math, reading, science, coding and more, so "one more level" is a good thing.
  • Room to create Paint, write comics and storybooks, animate and design mini-games. Nothing is graded; it's theirs to make.

Built by parents who love teaching their kids

PlayOwl started at home. We're parents who wanted our own children to light up about learning, so we built the place we were looking for: fun, calm and free of ads, where a child asks for one more level of fractions, then heads off to paint or design a game of their own.

We build for every stage of school, from first shapes and sounds in Preschool to algebra, calculus foundations and exam preparation in high school, so a family or a school can keep using PlayOwl as children grow.

Olly is our guide. He explains, gives hints when you ask, and celebrates when you finish a level. He never rushes you, never makes you feel bad for a wrong answer, and never asks you to buy anything.

How we're different

  • No ads, ever. No advertising, no advertising IDs, and we never sell or rent data.
  • Private by design for children. A child's profile is a first name or nickname, an avatar and a grade: no email address, photo or birth date. There's no chat with strangers and no public profiles. How we keep children safe.
  • Honest progress. Reports show what each child practised, on their own or with help. The weekly postcard for families is short and kind: no rankings and no "you missed a day".
  • Grown-ups stay in control. Families, teachers and schools set daily PlayTime, allowed hours and which games may be opened, and choose what help Olly offers.
  • Built for every learner. Read-aloud, calm and quiet modes, extra-large buttons, high contrast and spacious text. Accessibility.
