9th Grade courses, learning paths and worksheets

What 9th graders learn

Ninth grade usually means Algebra 1, biology or physical science, and the first formal essays of literary analysis: theme, character development and how structure builds tension. Students read closely, write with evidence and take notes from longer readings. Biology brings cells, genetics and ecosystems, often with the first formal lab reports. Many schools add world history or civics, with document reading and argument writing. Many students start a text programming language such as Python, and most begin to keep their own study schedule.
