What pre-K children learn

Pre-K is the year before kindergarten. Children count objects to 20, see small groups at a glance, begin to write a few numerals and use position words such as above, below and next to. In reading, they name most letters, hear the first sound in a word and clap the syllables in their name. Science starts with questions about weather, plants and animals, and puzzles, coloring and cutting build the hand strength writing needs.
