Designing Studies and Sampling
Learners study where data come from. They compare sampling methods and see sampling variability in a simulation, identify sources of bias, distinguish observational studies from experiments, explain confounding, design experiments with control, random assignment, replication, blocking and blinding, and decide what conclusions a study's design allows.

- Study design check: 11 questions
- Ways to answer: choose an answer, highlight a text, match pairs, type a number, put in order and sort into groups
What learners will discover
- Describe populations, samples, parameters and statistics, compare sampling methods, and explain why random sampling matters.
- Identify sources of bias in sampling and measurement and explain their likely effect.
- Distinguish observational studies from experiments and explain how confounding limits conclusions.
- Design experiments using control, random assignment, replication and blocking, and state the scope of inference.
