Databases and Information Organization
Learners follow primary and foreign keys across related tables, model many-to-many relationships with junction tables, and see how storing the same fact in many places causes update, insertion and deletion anomalies that normalization prevents. They read SQL-like queries with SELECT, WHERE and ORDER BY and predict their results, then compare metadata, folders and tags as ways to organize and find information.

- Ways to answer: fill in the blanks, choose an answer, put code in order, trace code, match pairs and type a number
What learners will discover
- Use primary and foreign keys to follow one-to-many relationships between tables, and model many-to-many relationships with a junction table.
- Explain how redundancy causes update, insertion and deletion anomalies, and normalize a table in plain terms by splitting it so each fact is stored once.
- Predict the rows and order returned by SQL-like queries that use SELECT, FROM, WHERE and ORDER BY.
- Use metadata to describe and find information, and choose between folders and tags for organizing a collection.
