Quadrilaterals and Polygons
Learners prove the properties of parallelograms with congruent triangles, learn several ways to prove that a quadrilateral is a parallelogram, and distinguish rectangles, rhombuses and squares by their diagonals. They study trapezoids and kites, organize quadrilaterals in a hierarchy, and derive and apply the interior and exterior angle sums of polygons.

What learners will discover
- Prove the properties of parallelograms (opposite sides and angles congruent, consecutive angles supplementary, diagonals bisect each other) and apply them.
- Use criteria to prove that a quadrilateral is a parallelogram, and identify and apply the special properties of rectangles, rhombuses and squares.
- Apply properties of trapezoids (including the trapezoid midsegment and isosceles trapezoids) and kites, and classify quadrilaterals in the hierarchy.
- Derive and apply the interior and exterior angle sums of polygons and the angle measures of regular polygons.
