Build an Original Object-Oriented Project

In this project course learners design an object-oriented solution with nouns, verbs and CRC cards, trace a worked board-game library with collaborating Game, Member and Library classes, test classes and scenarios including side effects of refusals, and plan iterative development with a design log. A reviewed task asks each learner to plan an original object-oriented project of their own.

  • 4 lessons
  • About 100 minutes
  • Check what you learned: 8 questions
  • Ways to answer: choose an answer, put code in order, trace code, highlight a text, type a number and put in order

What learners will discover

  • Design classes from requirements, assigning responsibilities and collaborators with CRC cards.
  • Trace and extend interacting classes in a worked object-oriented program.
  • Test classes and scenarios, checking returned values and the state of every object involved.
  • Plan iterative development, record design decisions with reasons and reflect on the design.
