Stoichiometry and Conservation
Balanced equations become quantitative tools. Learners use mole ratios to predict amounts, carry out mass-to-mass calculations and check them against conservation of mass, decide which reactant runs out first, and compare the theoretical yield with what a real reaction produces.

- Stoichiometry check: 10 questions
- Ways to answer: balance equations, choose an answer, draw a graph, match pairs, type a number and put in order
What learners will discover
- Use the mole ratios in a balanced equation to relate the amounts of any two substances in a reaction.
- Calculate the mass of a reactant or product from a given mass, and verify the result with conservation of mass.
- Identify the limiting reactant, and calculate the maximum product and the amount of excess reactant left over.
- Calculate theoretical and percent yield and explain why actual yields differ from theoretical yields.
