Exponential and Logarithmic Functions
Learners extend exponential models to the base e and continuous compounding, define the logarithm as the inverse of exponentiation, derive the product, quotient and power properties from the exponent laws, and use logarithms (including change of base) to solve exponential equations for doubling times, half-lives and growth rates.

What learners will discover
- Model growth and decay with exponential functions, including the base e and continuous compounding, and compare compounding schemes.
- Define logarithms as inverses of exponential functions, convert between exponential and logarithmic form, evaluate logarithms and describe their graphs.
- Derive the product, quotient and power properties of logarithms from exponent laws and use them, together with change of base, to rewrite expressions.
- Solve exponential and logarithmic equations and apply them to doubling time, half-life and growth-rate questions.
