Sound and Light as Physical Phenomena
Learners apply the wave model to sound and light. They relate loudness to intensity with the inverse-square law and the decibel scale, explain the Doppler effect, use c = fλ across the electromagnetic spectrum, calculate refraction with Snell's law and explain total internal reflection, and predict images formed by converging lenses with ray rules and the lens equation.

What learners will discover
- Explain sound as a longitudinal pressure wave, relate pitch to frequency and loudness to intensity, and use the inverse-square law and the decibel scale.
- Explain the Doppler effect for moving sources and describe its uses in technology and astronomy.
- Use c = fλ across the electromagnetic spectrum, calculate refraction with n = c/v and Snell's law, and explain total internal reflection.
- Predict the images formed by a converging lens with ray rules and the lens equation, including magnification.
