Magnetism and Electromagnetic Models
Learners build the electromagnetic model step by step: magnetic fields of magnets and currents, the force on a current in a field and how it drives motors, electromagnetic induction and Lenz's law in generators, and transformers that make long-distance power transmission efficient. The course ends by connecting changing electric and magnetic fields to electromagnetic waves.

- Electromagnetism check: 10 questions
- Ways to answer: choose an answer, draw a graph, match pairs, type a number, put in order and sort into groups
What learners will discover
- Describe magnetic fields of magnets, straight wires and solenoids with field lines and the right-hand grip rule, and calculate the field inside a long solenoid.
- Calculate the force on a current-carrying conductor with F = BIL sin θ and explain how a DC motor produces continuous rotation.
- Explain and calculate induced emf using Faraday's law and emf = BLv, apply Lenz's law, and explain how a generator works.
- Apply the transformer equations and P = I²R to explain why electricity is transmitted at high voltage.
