Implementation with Robust Error Handling

Learners make their capstone robust: they classify failures and choose strategies (validate, retry, fall back, fail fast), design custom exception hierarchies that are raised where problems are detected and handled at the right layer, implement bounded retries with exponential backoff against a simulated unreliable service with attention to idempotence, and write useful, safe logs alongside clear user messages.

What learners will discover

  • Classify failures and choose a strategy: validate, retry, fall back or fail fast.
  • Design custom exceptions that are raised where problems are detected and handled at the appropriate layer.
  • Implement bounded retries with backoff for transient failures, recognising when retries are unsafe.
  • Write useful, safe logs and clear user-facing error messages.
