Python Foundations: Values and Expressions
Learners meet Python's four basic types (int, float, str and bool), evaluate arithmetic expressions with the order of operations, floor division and remainder, and join and repeat strings. They practise predicting the exact output of print statements, the skill that every later trace depends on.

- Ways to answer: fill in the blanks, choose an answer, put code in order, trace code, match pairs and type a number
What learners will discover
- Identify the type of a Python value (int, float, str or bool) and explain how quotation marks and decimal points decide it.
- Evaluate arithmetic expressions using +, -, *, /, //, % and ** with the correct order of operations.
- Join and repeat strings, find their length, and fix a TypeError caused by mixing text and numbers.
- Predict the exact output of print statements that combine text and expressions.
