Create a Digital Picture

Using Paint Pad, a pretend drawing app, children learn what three drawing tools do (crayon, paint bucket and stamp), make a picture where every tap adds something, fix a mistake with the undo button instead of throwing the picture away, and give their finished picture a name that tells what it shows.

What learners will discover

  • Choose a drawing tool for a job: the crayon draws lines, the bucket fills a space with colour, the stamp adds a picture.
  • Make a picture where each tap or stroke adds one thing, and use undo to take back only the last thing.
  • Say what their picture shows and choose a name for it that matches.
