Read and Build Familiar Phrases

A first step into reading Spanish for children who are ready (most often in Pre-K or Kindergarten). Children meet the five Spanish vowels, blend m, p, s and l with vowels into syllables (ma, pa, so, lu), build words they already know (mamá, papá, sopa, mesa, oso) and put them into short phrases such as mi mamá, el sol and la sopa.

What learners will discover

  • Recognise the five Spanish vowel letters a, e, i, o, u and link each to its one clear sound and a picture word (abeja, elefante, isla, oso, uvas).
  • Blend taught consonants (m, p, s, l) with vowels into syllables and join syllables into known words, noticing the accent in mamá and papá.
  • Read and build short familiar phrases with mi, el and la (mi papá, el sol, la sopa).
