What it is
When the town is asleep, Olly opens the Midnight Library. Each level is a short original story or an informational page: why the sky is blue, how bees make honey, a robot who learned to read. Read a glowing section, type it, and watch the page fill in. On editing nights, mischievous gremlins have planted typos; each one is marked, and you fix it with Backspace and careful retyping. Story Shelf and Reference Room are keyboard tracks; Tap Reading is made for touchscreens.
What children learn
Builds steady, accurate typing of connected text at grade-appropriate reading levels, in sections so learners read before they type. Editing levels practise finding and fixing spelling errors, where Backspace counts as editing practice rather than a mistake. Accuracy earns stars; Reference Room also shows a gentle pace band. Touchscreen results are reported separately from keyboard results.
What it teaches
- Meaningful passages
- Touchscreen text entry
- Edit typed text
How to play
Click the page or press Enter to start typing. Backspace fixes mistakes. In editing levels, Backspace removes letters from the marked word, type the correction, then press Enter (or the Next typo button) to move on. On touchscreens use the on-screen keyboard or your device keyboard. Say next word reads the passage aloud word by word.
