What it is

A basket of cookies, sandwiches or muffins sits in front of a row of hungry friends. Children drag treats onto plates, or tap a plate to give it one, until the share is fair. In the older track some treats are left over, and some picnics need a treat cut in half so everyone gets exactly the same.

What children learn

Builds equal sharing as the foundation of division: dealing one at a time, checking that groups are equal, recognising when what is left is too few to share (remainders), and sharing a whole into halves.

What it teaches

  • Halves and equal parts
  • Share equally

How to play

Drag a treat from the basket onto a plate, or tap a friend's + button to give one treat. Tap − to take one back. In halves picnics, tap the knife to cut a treat in half. Press Done when it's fair. Keyboard: Tab to the buttons and press Enter.

Plays with: Touch Mouse Keyboard Pen
