- Sound swap chain. Write a short word like cat. Your child reads it. Change one letter to make hat, then hit, hip, ship, shop. Each swap is a quick reading lesson, and children love watching one word turn into another.
- Silly sentence dictation. Say a short, silly sentence that uses this week's pattern, such as "The fish has a wish." Your child writes it, stretching each word into sounds. Then they read it back and draw a picture of it.
- Letter-team snap. Write sh, ch and th on three cards. Say words like chin, ship, thumb, shell, chop and math. Your child slaps the card for the team they hear. Swap roles and let them call out words for you.
