Arabic · Grade 10
Revise for Register, Precision and Cohesion
Learners take a report to a municipal youth council that is correct but too conversational and vague, and turn it into polished formal Arabic. They shift register (removing fillers and colloquial words, using verbal nouns and formal structures), choose precise vocabulary instead of vague words and repeated verbs, strengthen cohesion across paragraphs with transitions and reference chains, and write a revision memo that justifies their choices.

What learners will discover
- Shift a conversational text into formal written MSA: remove fillers and colloquial words, and use formal structures such as verbal nouns (الْمَصْدَرُ), the passive and nominal sentences.
- Replace vague words (شَيْءٌ، أُمُورٌ، جَيِّدٌ) and repeated verbs (قَالَ) with precise vocabulary (أَكَّدَ، أَوْضَحَ، أَشَارَ إِلَى، اعْتَرَفَ، نَفَى).
- Strengthen cohesion across paragraphs with transitions (عِلَاوَةً عَلَى ذٰلِكَ، فِي الْمُقَابِلِ، وَبِنَاءً عَلَى ذٰلِكَ), reference chains (هٰذِهِ الْمُبَادَرَةُ، تِلْكَ الظَّاهِرَةُ) and parallel structure.
- Revise a complete text for register, precision and cohesion, and justify the main revisions in a short memo.
