Arabic · Grade 9
Refine Grammar and Precise Expression
Learners tighten the grammar that separates good Arabic from very good Arabic: the إِنَّ family and the كَانَ family and the case endings they cause, agreement with non-human plurals, duals and verb-first sentences, and precise word choice among near-synonyms. Every point is practised in short, realistic sentences and then applied to editing a paragraph.

- Ways to answer: fill in the blanks, choose an answer, highlight a text, match pairs, sort into groups and write a short answer
What learners will discover
- Use إِنَّ and its sisters (أَنَّ، لٰكِنَّ، لِأَنَّ، كَأَنَّ، لَعَلَّ): the following noun takes -a and pronouns attach directly (إِنَّهُ، لِأَنَّهَا).
- Use كَانَ and its sisters (أَصْبَحَ، صَارَ، مَا زَالَ، لَيْسَ): the description (predicate) takes -an / -a.
- Apply refined agreement: non-human plurals take feminine singular adjectives and verbs, duals agree as duals, and a verb before its subject stays singular.
- Choose the most precise word among near-synonyms (رَأَى / شَاهَدَ / لَاحَظَ، قَالَ / أَكَّدَ / أَجَابَ، كَبِيرٌ / ضَخْمٌ / وَاسِعٌ) and edit a paragraph for grammatical accuracy and precision.
