Read and Write Short Messages

Learners read the short messages of everyday life in Arabic: a text invitation and its reply, a note left on the fridge and a party invitation card. They find who, what, when and where, learn the polite openings, requests and closings (with the right form for a male or female reader), use the days of the week and simple times, and write and answer a message of their own.

  • 4 lessons
  • About 95 minutes
  • Messages check: 9 questions
  • Ways to answer: fill in the blanks, choose an answer, choose a reply, highlight a text, match pairs and put in order

What learners will discover

  • Read a short message, note or invitation and find who it is from and to, what is planned, and when and where.
  • Use message formulas with the right form for the reader: openings (مَرْحَبًا يَا …
  • Use the days of the week and simple time expressions (الْيَوْمَ، غَدًا، يَوْمَ السَّبْتِ، فِي السَّاعَةِ الرَّابِعَةِ، مَسَاءً) to say when something happens.
  • Write a short message (an invitation, a note or a reply) with an opening, a clear purpose, a time or place, and a closing.
