Function Transformations and Inverses
Learners describe how shifts, stretches, compressions and reflections change a function's equation, graph and key points, and write transformed equations from descriptions. They then find inverse functions algebraically, verify them by composition, relate their graphs by reflection in y = x, test invertibility with the horizontal line test, and restrict domains so that quadratics have inverses.

What learners will discover
- Describe the effect of vertical and horizontal shifts, stretches, compressions and reflections on a function's graph and key points.
- Write the equation of a transformed function from a description or from key features, attending to the order of transformations.
- Find inverse functions algebraically, verify them by composition, and relate their graphs by reflection in y = x.
- Decide whether a function is invertible (one-to-one), restrict a domain to create an inverse, and use inverses in context.
