Secure Workflows and Incident Simulations

A strictly defensive course on running a small project team securely. Learners redesign a team's accounts around individual logins, password managers, multi-factor sign-in and recovery that survives graduation; apply least privilege to file and link sharing with regular access reviews; protect data and devices with tested 3-2-1 backups, updates and device encryption; and talk two fictional incidents (a lost laptop and an over-shared link) through detect, contain, notify, recover and a blameless review.

  • 4 lessons
  • About 115 minutes
  • Secure workflow check: 10 questions
  • Ways to answer: fill in the blanks, choose an answer, highlight a text, match pairs, type a number and put in order

What learners will discover

  • Design a team account workflow: one person per account, unique passphrases in a password manager, multi-factor sign-in, separate admin accounts, organization-owned recovery, and onboarding and offboarding.
  • Apply least-privilege sharing: choose the lowest role for named people, restrict link sharing, set expiry, and find over-sharing in an access review.
  • Protect data and devices with tested 3-2-1 backups, prompt updates, device encryption and screen locks, and work out how much data a backup schedule could lose.
  • Respond to a fictional incident through detect, contain, notify, recover and review, keeping a timeline log and running a blameless review.
