Spreadsheets, Formulas and Charts
Using Grid Sheet, a pretend spreadsheet, learners summarise data with SUM, AVERAGE, MIN and MAX, fill a formula down a column and predict how its cell references shift, sort and filter rows without breaking them apart, and choose and read the right chart (bar, line or pie) for a question, finishing by describing what a chart shows.
- 4 lessons
- About 80 minutes
- Spreadsheets and charts check: 8 questions
- Ways to answer: fill in the blanks, choose an answer, estimate, match pairs, type a number and put in order
What learners will discover
- Use SUM, AVERAGE, MIN and MAX on a range and explain what each returns.
- Fill a formula down a column and predict how relative references change; sort and filter whole rows to answer questions.
- Choose and read the right chart (bar for comparing groups, line for change over time, pie for parts of a whole) with a title and labelled axes.
