Seasons and Skies

What it is

Four trails through the year. In the Calendar Garden, put days, months and seasons in order and sort months into seasons for the half of Earth where you live. In Weather Wardrobe, dress Kai for sunshine, rain, snow and wind and learn the weather symbols. Weather Watchers read thermometers in Celsius and Fahrenheit and real-looking weather reports. Tilted Earth shows why seasons happen: the half of Earth tilted toward the Sun gets more direct sunlight and longer days, while distance from the Sun is not the cause.

What children learn

Days of the week and months in order; the four seasons and their typical weather; opposite seasons in the Northern and Southern Hemispheres; dressing for the weather; weather symbols; reading thermometers (including below zero) and weather reports; Earth's tilted axis, solstices and equinoxes, sunlight angle and day length.
