Mission 4

Open the Community Café

The old corner shop is a café now, run by the people who live on the street, and today the door opens for the first time. Read each order, find what it needs, measure it out and send every tray to the right table. Mr. Omar does the cooking. The rest is up to you.

A Full House

The job: Run opening-day brunch from one pantry: meet every booking, put the leftovers to work, and replan when the morning changes.

For grown-ups: what this mission practices

Reading picture and written orders, sorting and storing ingredients, counting out to a ticket, measuring in cups, grams and milliliters, halving and doubling, and scaling a recipe in batches. Older children convert units, plan inside limits of stock, space and time, compare plans and explain or justify a change.

Ages
Five versions, from Preschool to Grade 8. They are different designs, not the same task with other numbers.
How it is checked
Every answer is checked by rules the child can see at work on the screen. Any answer that meets them is right.
Help
Olly can read any line aloud, give a hint that points at where to look, or show one way. A report says where help was used.
Time
Nothing is timed. A part takes a few minutes and progress is saved after each one for a signed-in child.
