Mission 21
The Great Recipe
Every card in Great-Gran Tilly's recipe box is a family favorite, but none of them fits today. One has its steps mixed up, one feeds too few, one needs more than the pantry holds, and one guest cannot eat the butter. Read the card, measure, mix and decide. Uncle Dev does everything hot or sharp.

For grown-ups: what this mission practices
Putting the steps of a recipe in a working order, counting out to a card, doubling and tripling amounts, and measuring in grams and milliliters. Older children scale by halves and quarters, convert grams, kilograms, milliliters, liters, teaspoons and tablespoons, find the ingredient that runs out first, keep a ratio when an ingredient changes, plan times backward and justify a change.
- Ages
- Five versions, from Preschool to Grade 8. They are different designs, not the same task with other numbers.
- How it is checked
- Every answer is checked by rules the child can see at work on the screen. Any answer that meets them is right.
- Help
- Olly can read any line aloud, give a hint that points at where to look, or show one way. A report says where help was used.
- Time
- Nothing is timed. A part takes a few minutes and progress is saved after each one for a signed-in child.
