- Follows the events of the whole of The Red-Headed League by Arthur Conan Doyle, first published in 1891. The story is shortened and told in new sentences. No edition, abridgement, film or illustrated version was copied; only the events, the characters, the names of people and places, and one short phrase ("The Red-Headed League is dissolved") come from the original. Public domain. In the United States, copyright in works published before 1929 has expired, and this work was first published in 1891. Original wording owned by PlayOwl, apart from the one kept phrase named above, which is public-domain text. The underlying story is in the public domain (see the adaptation record).
