A Guided Arabic Story Project

The Foundation route ends with a story. Learners read an original illustrated story, 'Yusuf's Kite', find its characters, setting, problem and solution, put its events in order with sequence words, and notice how story verbs in the past tense work (ذَهَبَ he went, ذَهَبَتْ she went). Then they plan, write, revise and share a short story of their own.

  • 4 lessons
  • About 110 minutes
  • Story check: 10 questions
  • Ways to answer: fill in the blanks, choose an answer, highlight a text, match pairs, put in order and sort into groups

  • Order story events with أَوَّلًا، ثُمَّ، بَعْدَ ذٰلِكَ، أَخِيرًا and connect ideas with وَ and لٰكِنْ.
  • Recognise past-tense story verbs and tell the 'he' form (ذَهَبَ) from the 'she' form (ذَهَبَتْ), choosing the form that fits the subject.
