Revise for Register, Precision and Cohesion
Nathan, a student in Sherbrooke (Québec), wants the town council to keep the local youth centre open in the evening, but his first draft reads like a text message. Learners polish advanced writing in three dimensions: register (familier, courant, soutenu; restored ne, nous instead of on, impersonal and nominal structures), precision (precise verbs instead of faire, dire, avoir, il y a and chose; false friends and anglicisms such as éventuellement, supporter, faire du sens), and cohesion (reference chains, nominal reprises, varied connectors, punctuation that clarifies). They then revise a complete letter and justify every change in a revision log.

What learners will discover
- Adjust register to audience and genre (familier, courant, soutenu): restore ne, prefer nous or impersonal subjects to on, replace familiar words, and use impersonal and nominal structures in formal writing.
- Improve precision by replacing all-purpose words (faire, dire, avoir, il y a, chose) with precise ones, and avoid false friends and anglicisms (actuellement, éventuellement, assister à, réaliser, supporter, librairie, faire du sens).
- Strengthen cohesion with reference chains (pronouns, ce dernier, synonyms, general nouns, nominal reprises), varied connectors and punctuation that clarifies (no comma between subject and verb).
- Revise a complete text for register, precision and cohesion, and justify each change in a revision log (avant, après, catégorie, justification).
