Syllables and Word Endings
Step 11 of the PlayOwl sequence: children read and spell words with the endings -s, -es, -ed and -ing (wishes, jumped, landed, helping), learn what those endings tell us about number and time, and read two-syllable words by splitting them between consonants (rab-bit, nap-kin) and compound words (sun + set). They read the decodable story The Picnic.
