Narrative, Informative and Opinion Writing
Grade 1 writers learn three kinds of writing and the parts each one needs. An opinion piece names a topic, states an opinion, gives a reason and ends with a closing. An informative piece names a topic, gives facts and closes. A narrative tells two or more events in order with time words and an ending. Each lesson models a piece, checks the key structure and ends with real writing reviewed by an adult.
