Constructions and Transformations
Learners carry out classical compass-and-straightedge constructions as precise procedures and explain why they work, then describe rigid motions (translations, reflections and rotations) exactly with coordinate rules. They compose transformations, find sequences that map one figure onto another, and use rotations and reflections to describe the symmetry of polygons.

What learners will discover
- Sequence compass-and-straightedge constructions (bisectors, perpendiculars, parallels, an equilateral triangle) and justify why they work using congruent radii.
- Apply translations, reflections and rotations on the coordinate plane with precise rules, and recognize that rigid motions preserve distance and angle measure.
- Compose rigid motions, find a sequence that maps one figure onto another, and explain when the order of transformations matters.
- Describe the line and rotational symmetries of polygons as the reflections and rotations that map them onto themselves.
