A Geospatial Research Project
In this capstone, learners run a complete geospatial project on summer heat in the fictional city of Marlow Vale. They design the project and harmonise a data inventory, combine rasters and vectors with zonal statistics and correlation while watching for spatial autocorrelation, measure walking access to cooling centres for older residents, and test, document and communicate their findings with sensitivity analysis, limitations and an ethics check.

- About 135 minutes
- Geospatial project check: 11 questions
- Ways to answer: choose an answer, highlight a text, pin a map, pick map regions, match pairs and type a number
What learners will discover
- Design a geospatial project: frame the question, build a data inventory and harmonise coordinate systems, resolutions and dates.
- Combine raster and vector data with zonal statistics and correlation, recognising spatial autocorrelation and confounding.
- Measure the accessibility and equity of a service using network service areas and population overlays.
- Validate, document and communicate results using sensitivity analysis, stated limitations, ethics and reproducible methods.
