Sequences and Series
Learners write arithmetic and geometric sequences explicitly and recursively, use sigma notation, and prove the arithmetic series formula by pairing and the geometric series formula by multiplying and subtracting. They apply finite geometric series to savings plans and decide when an infinite geometric series has a sum, using it for repeating decimals and a bouncing ball.

What learners will discover
- Write explicit and recursive formulas for arithmetic and geometric sequences and use them to find terms.
- Read and write sigma notation, and derive and apply the formula for an arithmetic series.
- Derive and apply the formula for a finite geometric series, including savings-plan models.
- Decide whether an infinite geometric series converges, find its sum when it does, and apply this in context.
