Functions and Their Representations
Learners define a function as a rule that gives each input exactly one output and test relations in mappings, tables, graphs and equations. They use function notation to evaluate and interpret statements like h(2) = 30, describe domain, range and key features of graphs, and compare functions given in different representations, including arithmetic sequences seen as linear functions.

- Functions check: 11 questions
- Ways to answer: fill in the blanks, choose an answer, match pairs, type a number, place on a number line and sort into groups
What learners will discover
- Decide whether a relation given as a mapping, table, graph, equation or description is a function, and explain why.
- Use function notation to evaluate functions and to interpret statements such as f(a) = b in context; solve f(x) = c from a rule, table or graph.
- Identify domain and range (including discrete versus continuous and limits set by a context) and key features: intercepts, increasing and decreasing intervals, maximum and minimum.
- Compare functions represented in different ways and describe arithmetic sequences as linear functions on the positive integers.
