Events and Interaction
Third graders build programs that interact with users: clicks, keys and typed answers. They use messages (broadcast and wait, when I receive) so characters can start each other's scripts, trace programs with several characters, and design interactions with clear instructions and helpful feedback.
- 4 lessons
- About 80 minutes
- Events and interaction check: 8 questions
- Ways to answer: choose an answer, put code in order, trace code, match pairs, type a number and sort into groups
What learners will discover
- Use clicks, keys and typed answers (ask and answer) as inputs to a program.
- Use messages (broadcast and wait, when I receive) so one script starts another character's script.
- Trace programs with several characters, events and messages to predict what happens and in what order.
- Design an interaction that tells the user what to do and gives helpful feedback.
