Narratives with Purposeful Craft
Using an original mentor story about a family during a power outage, learners study the choices narrative writers make on purpose: an opening that orients the reader, dialogue and action that show feelings, transitions and pacing that control time, sensory details and precise words, and a conclusion that reflects. They plan, draft and check their own narrative.
