What it is
Each level is a short original story with its middle torn out. Three paragraphs could fill the gap, and every one sounds possible, but only one agrees with what happens before and after. Careful readers spot the detail that rules the others out: the boots that were still dry, the shop that was already closed.
What children learn
Builds close reading and inference: keeping track of characters, places, time and objects across a story, and checking that the middle connects the beginning to the end. Wrong choices are explained in practice by pointing at the exact clue.
