Spreadsheets, Formulas and Data Quality
Using a fictional bike-share's trip log, learners make formulas copy correctly with relative, absolute and mixed references, summarize data with COUNTIF, SUMIF and AVERAGEIF, classify with nested IF and retrieve values with an exact-match lookup. They then judge data against six quality dimensions, design validation rules, and audit a sheet for error values and the silent mistakes that produce plausible but wrong numbers.

What learners will discover
- Predict how relative, absolute and mixed references change when a formula is copied, and choose the reference type that makes a formula fill correctly.
- Summarize and classify data with COUNTIF, SUMIF, AVERAGEIF and nested IF, and retrieve values with an exact-match lookup.
- Diagnose data problems using the dimensions accuracy, completeness, consistency, timeliness, validity and uniqueness, and choose validation rules that prevent them.
- Audit a spreadsheet by interpreting error values, tracing formulas and finding silent errors such as short ranges and hard-coded numbers.
