Linear Models and Interpretation
Learners connect the table, equation, graph and words of a linear model, interpret rate of change and initial value with their units, and build models from two facts while checking that every representation agrees. They then decide when a prediction is trustworthy, spot invalid extrapolations, and finish with the full cycle of graphing, solving and interpreting. An optional honors lesson critiques two plausible models of a cooling cup of tea.

What learners will discover
- Connect the table, equation, graph and context of a linear model, interpreting the rate of change and initial value with units.
- Build a linear model from two data points or a verbal description and check that table, equation, graph and description are consistent.
- Judge whether a prediction from a linear model is reasonable, distinguishing interpolation from extrapolation and stating the sensible domain.
- Construct a graph and an equation from a context, solve the equation for a question in that context, and interpret the solution with units.
