How to Draw a Ladybug

- 8 min

- Ages 4–8 (a guide, not a rule)
Draw on paper: Paper, Pencil. Optional: Eraser, Red and black crayons or markers.
Draw it on the screen
A ladybug seen from above is a big circle with a smaller round head on top. One straight line down the back shows where its two wing covers meet. Spots go on both sides of that line, the same on each side. Then add eyes, two feelers and six legs: three on each side.
Rather color it? Print the ladybug coloring page.

Tips for this drawing
Helpful hints
- Draw the spots in pairs: one on the left, then one at the same height on the right.
- Keep the spots away from the edge of the body and from the middle line.
- Try a yellow or orange ladybug. Some real ladybugs are those colors too.
Common mistakes
- The head is drawn as a full circle and its line runs into the body. Draw only the top of the head, from one side of the body to the other, like a little hill.
- The ladybug has eight legs, like a spider. Insects have six legs: three on each side.
Make it simpler
Draw the body circle, the head, the middle line and a few spots. Skip the eyes and legs.
