Adaptation
Retold for PlayOwl in 2026 from the Grimms' tale. The telling is gentle: the animals leave home because they have been replaced, not because they are in danger, the robbers are comic and only run away, and what they stole is given back. The tale was published in 1819; Wilhelm Grimm died in 1859 and Jacob Grimm in 1863, so it is in the public domain everywhere. The retelling follows the events of the tale itself. It was not worked from any English translation, and no translation's wording was copied.
