Adaptation
Retold for PlayOwl in 2026 from the Russian folk tale of the turnip. The events are the well-known ones: the turnip will not come up until everyone, down to the mouse, pulls together. The dog's doubt about the mouse and the shared soup at the end are PlayOwl's own. The tale is folklore with no author. Afanasyev's printed version dates from 1863 and he died in 1871, so it is in the public domain. The retelling follows the events of the story and was not worked from any English translation or picture book. No wording was copied.
