Research and Present a Cultural Topic

The Developing route ends with a small research project in Arabic. Using Arabic calligraphy as the model topic, learners take notes from an article and an interview, judge which sources can be trusted and cite them, organise their findings into a presentation outline with presentation phrases, and write and give a short presentation on a cultural topic of their choice.

  • About 115 minutes
  • Research and presentation check: 9 questions
  • Ways to answer: fill in the blanks, choose an answer, highlight a text, match pairs, put in order and sort into groups

What learners will discover

  • Find and note key information from short Arabic sources on a cultural topic, using keywords rather than copied sentences.
  • Judge whether a source is reliable (author, date, evidence, purpose) and cite sources with title, author or organisation and year.
  • Organise information into a presentation outline (introduction, main points with details, conclusion) using presentation phrases such as سَأَتَحَدَّثُ عَنْ، أَوَّلًا، بِالْإِضَافَةِ إِلَى ذٰلِكَ، فِي الْخِتَامِ.
  • Write and deliver a short presentation (about two minutes) on a cultural topic from the Arabic-speaking world, citing at least two sources.
