Research a Cultural Question with Evidence
Learners carry out a complete small research project in French on one question: how do young Acadians in New Brunswick keep French alive in a mostly English-speaking region? They turn a broad interest into a researchable causal question with sub-questions and French search keywords, weigh primary and secondary sources (including an interview conducted ethically and a deliberately one-sided tourism page), take structured notes that separate quotation, paraphrase and summary, cite consistently to avoid plagiarism, and write a research report that compares perspectives respectfully and states its limits.

What learners will discover

- Evaluate primary and secondary sources for authority, purpose, currency, evidence and perspective, design open, non-leading interview questions with consent, and corroborate claims across independent sources.
- Take structured notes, distinguish quotation (« … »), paraphrase and summary, and cite sources consistently in the text and in a bibliography to avoid plagiarism.
- Write a research report that answers the question with evidence, compares perspectives respectfully and acknowledges the limits of the inquiry.
