Investigate Francophone Cultural Contexts
Learners investigate a cultural practice the way a careful researcher would. Their case is l'attaya, the tea ritual shared in Senegal: they analyze it through products, practices and perspectives, notice diversity and change instead of stereotypes, weigh four different sources (a reference article, a young Dakar resident's interview, a tourist brochure and a small survey), synthesize them with clear attributions, and write a short investigation report with a respectful comparison. The quiz transfers the method to the Québec cabane à sucre.

What learners will discover
- Analyze a cultural practice through its products, practices and perspectives, recognizing diversity within a country and change over time instead of stereotypes (certains, souvent, dans beaucoup de familles rather than tous, toujours).
- Evaluate sources for perspective (insider or outsider), purpose, date, evidence and bias, and corroborate a claim across sources.
- Synthesize information from several sources (text, interview, data) into a coherent explanation with attribution (selon la source 1…, les deux sources s'accordent sur…, la source 3 nuance…).
- Write a short cultural investigation report that answers a question with evidence from sources, states its limits and includes a respectful comparison with one's own community.
