French · Grade 4

Narrate with Reviewed Time Expressions

Learners tell what happened. They form the passé composé with avoir (regular participles in -é, -i, -u and the common irregular ones such as fait, pris, vu, écrit) and with être for movement and change-of-state verbs and pronominal verbs, with agreement (elle est allée, ils sont partis, nous nous sommes levés), and they place the negation around the auxiliary. They anchor events in time (hier, il y a deux jours, le lendemain, pendant, depuis), set the scene with c'était, il faisait and il y avait, and finally read and write the story of a trip.
