How to Draw a Car
- Easy (level 2 of 5)
- 12 min
- 8 steps
- Ages 5–9 (a guide, not a rule)
Draw on paper: Paper, Pencil. Optional: Eraser, A ruler for the road line, Crayons or markers in your favorite car color.
Draw it on the screen
Start a car with its wheels. When the wheels are in place, the body is easy: a long box with rounded corners that curves up and over each wheel, leaving a little space around it. Then add the roof, the windows, the doors and the lights. This car drives to the right.
Rather color it? Print the car coloring page.

Tips for this drawing
Helpful hints
- Draw both wheels the same size. Tracing around a coin or a bottle cap works too.
- Leave a small gap between each wheel and the curve of the body above it.
- Make it your own: add a stripe along the side, a number on the door or a third window.
Common mistakes
- The body line runs straight across the wheels. When the body line reaches a wheel, curve it up and over the wheel, then carry on.
- The wheels are tiny and the car looks like it is floating. Make each wheel about as tall as the body of the car, and let them stick out below it.
Make it simpler
Draw two wheels, a long box over them and a smaller box on top with one window.
