Adaptation
Retold for PlayOwl in 2026 from the traditional tale of the gingerbread man. PlayOwl's telling is gentler than the old versions: the gingerbread man sees the fox's trick, jumps to the river bank and gets away, and nobody is eaten. The underlying story is folklore with no author, and it has been in print for about 150 years, so it is in the public domain. Only the events of the tale were followed. The retelling was not worked from any one edition, and no edition's wording was copied apart from the short traditional phrase "Run, run, as fast as you can".
